Excerpt taken from the Des Moines Register, August 27, 2019:
Students from Ankeny Dance & Performing Arts Academy are back in Iowa after performing for crowds at Disneyalnd resort in Anaheim, California. The elite Star Dancers and some select members of the competition team from Ankeny Dance had to audition for the honor and were chosen by Disney Performing Arts to entertain park guests on stage at Disney’s California Adventure Resort. This isn’t the first time Ankeny Dance students have performed on Disney stages. The studio’s Star Dancers also danced for park guests on Main Street in Disneyland back in 2009 and in Disney’s California Adventure Park in 2013 and 2015.
Ankeny Dance & Performing Arts owner and director Sarah Ferree used to dance in parades and productions while she worked as a Disney perfomer in the 1990s.
“The entertainment professionals at Disney are the very best in the business” Ferree said in a news release. “For my students to be able to experience the dedication, hard work, and ability it takes to perform at the Disneyland Resort is a remarkable learning experience for them.” The dancers performed their own original and specially themed half hour show. The dancers also studied at The Edge Performing Arts Center in West Hollywood, whose instructors and students work and perform in movies, television and music videos.
